My name is Stephanie. I am married to a US Marine and mother to a 2 year old girl, Allyson MacKenzie, and a 7 year old Boston Terrier, Blitz. My husband has been in the Marines for about 12 years and we’ve been married for 8 years. Over the years we have lived in Jacksonville, NC, Clovis, CA, and Twentynine Palms, CA. I’m hoping this is a place where my life experiences can be beneficial to at least one person. If not, then I’ll settle for a good place to vent.
I’ve been toying around with the idea of a blog for about a month now. Usually the start of the new year is full of goals and expectations for the year but 2018 has been a bit unconventional. In January, I went to my weekly women’s bible study like always and they announced they needed more leaders for the 100 or so women to be broken down into small enough groups. I found myself mid conversation with a board member about filling the position. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but never felt qualified for and I also didn’t want to volunteer and then get orders and leave them high and dry. The crazy part is that I had been doing a personal study on the same book of the bible for the few weeks leading up to Christian Women’s Fellowship. So anyway, there I was 2 weeks into leading a group of 12-15 women when something my husband had been telling me for over a year was going to happen “any day now” finally happened. We got orders. To Okinawa Japan. Enter Panic.
Not only are we going to Okinawa but we only have 4 months to get our house and paperwork ready (luckily that’s enough time to finish my CWF study). I have really enjoyed moving in the past. However, I love Twentynine Palms and now we have this small, bossy human to cart around as well. We always pack and move ourselves. I like knowing my things are packed a certain a way and I like loading the truck when I’m good and ready. This time is so different. There is no option to move yourself across an OCEAN. Scheduling dates and having to meet weight requirements and restrictions on items makes things a bit more challenging. We’re about done with the paperwork section of the move after a month. I’m hoping today we will get some answers about flights and such.
Once I get comfortable with the blog, I’ll add a post about 29 Palms and about the move and whatever else life throws at me. 🙂
